Profile Picture Project

A profile picture, or a PFP, as it's often shortened to, is someone's icon to represent someone on a social media platform.  An unfortunately common form of PFP in the past couple years are a form of cryptocurrency called non-fungible tokens. They are normally some form of art that is for some people worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in cryptocurrency and hundreds of pounds of CO2 in the atmosphere. These ecological dystopian nightmare tokens normally have a similar base, with different things that cane be varied and switched in and out, much like a virtual dress up game. Despite the horrible culture around these "artworks" they pose as a good example to make a PFP maker of sorts, much like a picrew. We were told to create something like an NFT, so I decided to make a character creator of sorts  and create some icons of my friends' Dungeons and Dragons characters.

I first started with this as my base. And added certain elements that would change or could be modified for each, like the hair, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, and earrings. The clothes are all variations of three simple items, an ascot, a shirt, and a vest. These are the final  results.

Overall, while I feel like I did what was asked of me, I feel as though some part of my art feels soulless in a way. I don't know how to put it, but the smooth edges, perfect lines, and blank expressions just feel almost corporate to me. I hope in the future I can learn how to create a more genuine, traditional and expressive art in Adobe Illustrate.

As a fun little side project after I finished the main part of this project, I mocked up some fake school IDs
for them as well, and modeled them after the school IDs that my college has.
