For this project, I'd have to say that my main inspiration has got to be PES, as I've looked up to his work since I was quite young. I don't know which of his works are my favorite, but I want to follow in his footsteps with the way he makes certain things look like other things. For example, these peeps as fireworks and a baseball glove as sliced

ham. What exactly I will make, I'm not sure, but I want to use items that I see on a day to day basis that I have a surplus of, that I don't think many others do. This would be needles, lancets, and rolls of body tape. The only thing that is holding me back currently is what exactly I can make these items behave like. I also have a figurine that I would love to use as well, but I think would be difficult to not have it create an odd narrative of sorts when added with the much more abstract objects. I don't know, I'm very inspired by PES's food based works, but then again, I can't show myself or my form in any way, and doing something like that would break that rule, not to mention being way too complex with the time limit given. I want to do a top-down shot for this piece so I can move the objects around easily, but that also means I can't use my figurine, I suppose. I want to have colored paper as the background, much like my rotating heads assignment. The objects I have in mind so far are:

  • colored paper

  • lancets

  • pills

  • and insulin pen needles

I was thinking maybe I can have them make a pattern, much like the paper towel and bead example, but I also really like the idea of making these objects behave like something they're not. I'll keep my brain peeled and think of some things that I could create with my odd assortment of objects, but for now that is all I have.
